CASS has travelled nearly four decades of winding path and experienced joy and sadness along the way. From its humble beginnings as a child care service coordinating unit with only one part-time staff member, it has developed into a community organisation providing a wide range of services for both migrants and the wider community, servicing 3,300 families a week, including those of Indonesian, Korean, Vietnamese and other backgrounds, as well as Chinese Australians.
We hope that these stories will enable you to understand the struggles and achievements of migrants and the rewards of volunteering, so inspiring more people to join in with community activities to become an active part of Australian society.
